Lorgar and the Word Bearers: The Need to Believe
Lorgar Aurelian believed humanity needed faith, and his refusal to abandon that conviction helped transform religious devotion into one of the driving forces behind the Horus Heresy. This episode explores his upbringing on Colchis, where religion shaped his worldview long before he met the Emperor. Under Lorgar, the Word Bearers conquered worlds slowly because they also built temples and encouraged worship of the Emperor as a god. The Emperor’s rejection of that worship culminated in the humiliation of Monarchia, leaving Lorgar searching for divinity elsewhere.
